I've been teaching in the primary grades, mostly in Kindergarten, since 1998. I work at Sheppard Elementary in the Roseland School District in Santa Rosa CA. We serve a student population with low socio-economic levels, primarily English learners who speak Spanish at home. I love working with kids and helping parents learn to navigate the ins and outs of their role in their child's education.
My son, Abraham, is currently in Kindergarten and on the Autism Spectrum. Many of my "teacher tricks" for engaging students are completely lost on him. Parenting him is a challenge, for sure, and one that is making me a better teacher. I love crafts, knitting, quilting, and making stuff for my kid and my classroom. I really like finding creative re-uses for thrift store and yard sale finds. |
